Brushfire Near Highway 101 in Ventura

Fire crews are battling a 15-acre blaze in Ventura County near Highway 101 and Camarillo.

UPDATE: 10:00 A.M.
The fire is about 80% contained. Crews expect it to be extinguished by this evening. All roads are open and no injuries are reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

UPDATE 6:30 P.M.
Voluntary evacuations have been urged for residents in the Highlands and Somi neighborhoods.

Approximately 250 firefighters, 4 helicopters, and 4 aircraft are on scene. The fire has expanded to 20 acres.

The blaze was reported at 3:15 p.m. Venture County fire unites responded to a 2-alarm brush fire at Loma Drive near E. Loop Dr. The fire had burned 5-7 acres at that time.

The California Highway Patrol has closed traffic in the area of Loop Dr. except for residents and emergency equipment.
