Dick Van Dyke to Host, Perform at Benefit Concert Featuring Area Choirs
May 4, 2010
Entertainer Dick Van Dyke joined the Camarillo High School Chorus recently to offer some pointers regarding their upcoming performance in the annual fundraising event “Give My Regards to Broadway.”
The Conejo Valley Harmony Oaks Chorus organizes the annual benefit concert, now in its twelfth year, to benefit local school choral music programs.
Van Dyke, an actor, singer and dancer best known for his work in The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, lives in Malibu and has long been actively involved in the benefit concert and will both host and perform at this year’s fundraiser.
The concert is set for this Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Fred Kavli Theatre. Ticket prices for the May 9 concert range from $16 to $36. You can contact the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Box office at 449.2787 for more information or to purchase tickets.
This year marks the Camarillo choir’s first appearance at the concert. They will join choirs from six area schools: El Camino Real, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Rio Mesa and Santa Susanna High Schools. The event’s organizers will divide the proceeds among the six school’s choral programs.
